Message posted on behalf of Hayley....

Message for Juniors (Baddams Team) and their Parents!
We will be hiring the Chilwell theatre on Thursday 4th May to enable all the
kids (especially the new ones) to experience a rehearsal on the stage.
However, this means we need to get all the props and children across to the
hall that evening.
We will be meeting up at 6pm (outside the Village Hall) with a view to car
sharing. The rehearsal will be from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Chilwell so the
children will be back around 9pm.
If as a parent you are able to come and bring your children + others (more
than welcome to view the rehearsal) can you let us know as we need help
transporting everyone and the props that will need to go with it!
All very exciting as the date draws closer....Please, message below or let
either Ellie or myself know on mobiles: Ellie - 07850 012853 Hayley - 07770

Message from Annette

Unsung Hero Award
Hi everyone, its that time of year to start thinking about who you would like to nominate for the Unsung Hero Award. For those of you who are new to ELAPs this year this is an award that we created in honour and memory of Frank O'Connell who worked tirelessly for ELAPs, helping out in many ways. This award is chosen by yourselves and you can nominate anyone at all in ELAPs for this award which will be presented at the AGM in January. It is all about who y...ou think puts in that extra effort and helps either you out personally and/or the group in general. Could you please email me or Keith Benedict or message me on Facebook or speak to me at rehearsal to let us know your nomination. Your nomination will not be disclosed to anyone else. We need to know your nomination by Monday 12th December. All your nominations will be counted and the ELAPs member with the most votes will be presented with the trophy at the AGM on January 12th.
Any parents reading this please convey this to your children who are ELAPs members as all votes count.
Thank you

Annette

THE SNOW QUEEN IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Costumes
Please could all cast bring their costumes to all SUNDAY REHEARSALS from now on.
Mirrors/villagers/robbers please note:
Plain black leggings/trousers, plain black socks, plain black soft-soled shoes (plimsolls. Jazz shoes or similar). All these should be marked/labelled with the actor’s name (we know from experience that they can easily be “lost” or misplaced);
Coat hanger(s) and a bag (marked/labelled with the actor’s name) to carry all costume items (including those hat ELAPS is providing).
Reminder Raffle:
All members of ELAPs are required the rules of membership to provide at least one raffle item (such as Xmas biscuits/sweets, wine, scented candles, toys). This raises quite a lot of money at each performance so is an important revenue source for us. Please start bringing these in as soon as possible but by the end of November at the latest.
Sunday Rehearsals:
There will be Sunday rehearsals every week now (1.00 pm until 5.00 pm) until the performances are complete and it is really important that everyone attends. If however there is something that prevents attendance please remember to write your name down on the calendar at rehearsal or text me.
Pantomime Alliance of Leicester 25th March 2017, Leicester
ELAPS will be competing in this as usual for the various awards that make up Leicestershire’s Panto of the Year (our “Oscars”). We have been invited to put together a 10 minute performance at the event to showcase our talents and my initial thoughts are to do 2 or 3 of our musical numbers. However, this can only be done if we have the relevant numbers available (both cast and some technical support). I would like to know how many of the cast would be interested in performing, so if you could let me know in due course, that would be great. It is usually a very good night out (even for our non-performers) and gives us the opportunity to see snippets from other pantos to see how ww measure against other groups. We have been known to win a few awards too!. Further details are available on request.
Front of House Assistance
We are short of a few extra hands (particularly for the Saturday performances (10th December) for the refreshments and if you know of anyone available please contact Maureen Eveleigh or let me have their contact details.

Message below posted on behalf of Sonya:

MAY 2017 PRODUCTION

Yes I know, the panto isn’t over yet and here we are talking about the May production. Well, there’s so much preparation that is required for any production things need sorting early. The May 2017 has been confirmed. It is ‘Blithe Spirit’ and will be Directed by me, Sonya Oates.

If you are interested in auditioning can you let me know.

This is a very popular play written by Noel Coward. There are 2 Males and 5 Females.

Annette had hoped to direct this play last year, but could not cast it. I think it’ll be a great play to do and it’s one that most people have heard of and I’m sure, will bring in the audiences.

Apart from the acting side, as usual, there’s the ‘behind the scene’ people that are required. So if you’re interested in doing any of these important and vital roles please let me know.

There will be a read through of the play on 19th January, then auditions on 26th January, then straight into rehearsals from the then on. Please put the dates in your diary.

Looking forward to it alreadyJ

THE SNOW QUEEN IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Costumes and Make Up:

All Mirrors, Villagers and Robbers need the following basic items for their personal costumes/make up:
Plain black leggings/trousers, plain black soft-soled shoes (plimsolls. Jazz shoes or similar). ELAPS will be providing a black polo-neck with a mirror motif. All these should be marked/labelled with the actor’s name (we know from experience that they can easily be “lost” or misplaced;
Skin toned foundation, neutral lipstick, grey/black eye liner and light blusher (we do not like the actors to share these items (other than between family members) to prevent infection). Please put these in a closable bag marked/labelled with the actor’s name; and
Coat hanger(s) and a bag (marked/labelled with the actor’s name) to carry all costume items (including those for the villagers and robbers that ELAPS is providing).
Please make sure that costume items are available from the 3rd November, make up items from the 20th November.

Rehearsals:
As we start to step up a gear towards performance dates, all actors (including the mirrors, villagers and robbers) will be required to remain at rehearsals until 9.30 pm every Thursday from 3rd November. Please remember that if you cannot attend a rehearsal either write your name down on the calendar at rehearsal or text me.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on 1st November but please note that the tickets for the Saturday matinee and evening performances sell out really quickly. All cast and crew can order tickets in advance from Annette at rehearsals:

The message below is from Leicestershire and Rutland Drama Festival - if anyone needs the attachements please contact a member of the elaps comittee member who will have the details.

Leicestershire and Rutland Drama Festival

11 / 09 / 2017
Dear Fellow Thespians

It’s that time of year again!!!!! I am writing to invite you to take part in next years’ One Act Play Festival which will be held once again at the lovely Little Theatre in Leicester..

Our dates are: week ending Saturday April 1st for the Preliminary Round.

Exactly when it starts will be subject to the number of entries. At a real push we could do 17, but 14 would be our ideal. This would allow 3 plays each of
3 evenings/Saturday afternoon, and 2 plays on Saturday night which would allow plenty of time for the final presentations.

WE ARE ALSO HOSTING THE QUARTER FINAL WHICH IS 8 DAYS LATER ON:
Sunday, April 9th again at the Little Theatre

Adjudicators
This year we are using two new adjudicators who have never been part of the Leicestershire scene so should give us all a new perspective.

For the preliminary round we have Robert Clarke who lives in Bedford. He is delighted to be visiting a new area and seeing some fresh groups.

For the quarter final we have Jennifer Scott-Reid who lives in Cambridge. She is a very experienced adjudicator and again is delighted to be visiting a new area and seeing some fresh groups.

The Festival will be an open festival again this year, which means groups outside the Leicestershire / Rutland area are welcome to attend.
To enter you will need to complete the Entry Form and return it to me, together with a cheque, no later than Friday, 6th January 2015

I REGRET TO SAY WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONSIDER ANY LATE ENTRIES.

I do hope you will be able to enter the 2017 festival. If you are considering entering for the first time, I have attached a brief guide to explain more

Attached are a number of necessary or informative additions.

1. The Entry Form. Please return with cheque.
2. The Declaration Form. This MUST be completed together with your Entry Form unless you are going forward as part of another festival.
3. A copy of the rules. Please note further information can be found on the AETF website
4. Some information for groups entering for the first time.

I look forward to hearing from you. You can book a place now even if you are not sure of all the details yet of your play. Please note, however, that a booking is a firm commitment.

Yours sincerely

Sandra Sutcliffe
